BROWARD COUNTY, FL - The Broward County Sea Turtle Conservation Program is responsible for promoting sea turtle conservation within the community and monitoring County beaches during sea turtle nesting season (March 1-October 31). The program typically hosts numerous in-person outreach programs throughout the year, but programs this year are slightly different.

The Sea Turtle Conservation Program started hosting free virtual sea turtle hatchling release programs in September. Programs begin with a “turtle talk” where participants learn about sea turtle biology, nesting on Broward’s beaches, threats to sea turtles, and how the public can help protect sea turtles and beach and marine habitat. Participants can also “chat” with staff biologists and ask questions. To conclude the program, participants watch footage of sea turtle hatchlings crawling to the ocean.

Programs are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5:30PM until October 29 and fill up fast. Be sure to register today! For more information about the virtual sea turtle hatchling release programs, including a link to registration, visit the Interpretive Programs page of the Environmental Planning and Community Resilience Division website.
