FLL Wins 2020 ANTN Digicast Excellence in Training Award

- Airport scores award for 8th consecutive year in large-hub category -

BROWARD COUNTY, FL – The American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) has recognized Broward County's Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) with ANTN's Digicast Excellence Award for Airport Training in 2020. This is the eighth consecutive year that FLL has won this training distinction.

The award from ANTN, an educational division of the AAAE, signifies that FLL employees have completed a specified amount of airport-specific and continuing education programs using the Digicast on-demand web-based training system. FLL ranked first in the large-hub U.S. airport category for having the most training programs watched and the highest number of employees trained during 2020. The airport will receive a plaque to mark this achievement.

The ANTN (formerly Airport News and Training Network) video learning system offers employees training on a range of topics, including airport operations, management, security, customer service, human resources, and more. The Digicast library provides airport subscribers with more than 300 training programs accessible from a web-enabled device and tracks training by user.

"The ANTN Digicast platform is a great tool for employees to advance their industry knowledge at their own pace,” said Mark Gale, CEO/Director of Aviation. “Congratulations to our employees on a job well done and for keeping the FLL bar high."

Since 2013, FLL has won recognition annually as the top large-hub U.S. airport with the most employees to have taken this training among dozens of ANTN's national and international subscribers. The award threshold for large-hub airports is 1,000 training programs watched by a minimum of 20 employees. FLL’s top ANTN user completed 207 training videos, marking the fourth highest number of tests passed by an individual among the 144 U.S. airports awarded.

FLL uses the ANTN training program in several ways to develop talent, including:

  • As a learning aid to introduce new employees to aviation
  • In career development to assist employees in selecting focus areas
  • To enhance industry knowledge and/or help employees transition into airport operations

Additionally, FLL monitors employee participation in ANTN each quarter, and their accomplishments are touted at staff meetings. Employees' professional development transcripts are also updated to reflect their continuing education achievements.

“The ANTN Digicast Excellence in Airport Training award is an annual opportunity for AAAE to recognize airports and their employees that have taken full advantage of the hundreds of compliance and professional development training programs available on Digicast,” said Patrick Raker, senior vice president of AAAE’s Training and Technology department. “AAAE’s Digicast service continues to offer a cost-effective training solution for airports of all sizes and I’m very excited about the roadmap of enhancements, features, and new content that are currently in development which will add even more value for airport subscribers worldwide.”
