County Wins 2021 WaterSense Partner of the Year Award

BROWARD COUNTY, FL - The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has recognized, for the fourth time, the Broward Water Partnership and Conservation Pays Rebate Program with a 2021 WaterSense Partner of the Year Award for its dedication to helping consumers and businesses save water, despite the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic. The County was recognized for promoting WaterSense and water efficiency throughout 2020 along for its creative use of digital advertising technologies and promotional partnerships.

The WaterSense partnership program is a label for water-efficient products and homes and a resource for helping consumers learn ways to save water. Since the program started in 2006, WaterSense labeled products have helped consumers and businesses save 5.3 trillion gallons of water. That's enough water to supply all households in the United States for 200 days. In addition to water savings, WaterSense has helped reduce the amount of energy needed to heat, pump, and treat water by 603 billion kilowatt hours and saved $108 billion in water and energy bills.

In 2020, the Partnership promoted several WaterSense campaigns, including Fix a Leak Week, Your Better Bathroom, and Shower Better. The partnership's outreach efforts during Fix a Leak Week reached over 16,000 people in the Broward County area. Even with the challenges presented by COVID-19, the Broward Water Partnership and Conservation Pays Rebate Program was able to give several presentations focused on water conservation where attendees were encouraged to install WaterSense labeled products. Visit the website for more information about toilet rebates and other water conservation programs.
