BROWARD COUNTY, FL - The Parks Division's Special Populations
Section continues its free Boccia program this month and next. Veterans (with
or without disabilities) and adults (18+) with disabilities can play on
Tuesdays from 1 to 3PM, beginning November 15th and running through December 20th.
A partnership with
the City of Sunrise, the program teaches participants to play this highly
competitive paralympic sport, in which individuals throw leather-like balls on
a marked floor, aiming the balls land as close as possible to the large ball
known as the Jack. The program focuses on hand-eye coordination and fine motor
skills. The venue is Sunrise Civic Center Gymnasium (10610 W Oakland Park Blvd.,
Sunrise 33351; 954-747-4600).

Adherence to CDC
guidelines for social distancing, hand sanitizing, and wearing facial coverings
is recommended.
