BROWARD COUNTY, FL - In observance of the upcoming holidays, most County governmental offices will be closed on Monday, December 26 and Monday, January 2, 2023 in observance of the Christmas and New Year's holidays, which both fall on Sunday this year. All alternate and online services, including library services will still be available at Broward.org. Some offices, such as Animal Care, will be open on New Year's Day.
Additional information:
- The 311 Call Center will be closed. The Homeless Helpline will remain open both days from 8AM to Noon on both Fridays. Residents can still submit requests for service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, through the website or mobile app, MyBroward.Broward.org.
- All Broward County Library locations will be closed on Sunday, December 25 and Monday, December 26 for
the Christmas holiday. All libraries will be closed on Sunday, January
1 and Monday, January 2 for the 2023 New Year holiday. Customers can visit the website to search
the online catalog, place holds on or renew materials and access free online
classes, eBooks, eMagazines, streaming/downloadable movies, TV shows and music.
- All Broward County regional and neighborhood parks, nature centers, and natural areas will be closed on Christmas Day, except for Everglades Holiday Park and Ski
Rixen at Quiet Waters Park. The gate entrance fee at Quiet Waters Park will not
be in effect. All County parks will be open on the County's Christmas Day
Observed Holiday on Monday, December 26 (except Deerfield Island and Markham
Target Range) and the parks' holiday gate admission fee will be suspended. All
County parks will be open on New Year's Day and the parks' holiday gate
entrance fee ($1.50/person, ages 5 and under free) will be in effect. The Parks
administrative offices will be closed on Monday, December 26 and Monday,
January 2, 2023.
- Broward County Transit (BCT) will operate a Holiday service schedule on Sunday, December 25, Christmas Day, and
January 1, New Year's Day. Administrative offices will be closed on Monday,
December 26, and January 2 in observance of the holidays. However, Bus Services
and Customer Service will operate on a regular weekday schedule on Monday,
December 26, and January 2. Customer service representatives will be available
from 8:30 AM to 4:45 PM at 954-357-8400 (TTY 954-357-8302) on Christmas Day and
New Year's Day to provide trip-planning assistance for fixed-route and
paratransit services. Staff will also be available from 8:45 AM to 4:45 PM on
Christmas Day and New Year's Day at the Broward County Transits Main Terminal
in downtown Fort Lauderdale and at the Lauderhill Transit Center in Lauderhill.
The Northeast Transit Center in Pompano Beach will be closed on Christmas and
New Year's Day.
- Broward County's Animal Care will
be closed on Sunday, December 25th. The Adoption Center will be open
on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, Saturday, December 31st and
Sunday, January 1st. For emergencies only involving animal attacks
or bites, injured animals, and situations requesting police assistance, call
911. For non-emergencies, residents can call Animal Care beginning Monday,
December 26th, and without interruption through New Year's at 954-359-1313.
Visit the Animal Care website to purchase a pet license, make an appointment at
the Pet Care Clinic, or to find contact information for individual programs,
such as adoptions, lost and found pets, or spay/neuter.
- The Aviation Department administrative offices at Broward County's Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport will be closed. Calls will be answered 24 hours a day for general airport-related questions at 954-359-6100. All terminals and airport facilities will operate normally. The North Perry Airport administrative office will be closed. Calls will be answered 24 hours a day for general airport related questions at 954-336-2973. The Airport will operate normally.
- Broward County's Port Everglades administrative offices will be closed; however, the building will remain open during normal business hours for tenants. Port Operations' marine services will be provided at standard levels without interruption on a 24/7 basis.
- The Office of the Medical Examiner and Trauma Services' administrative offices will be closed, but all family and professional services are available 24/7. Call 954-357-5200 for information and assistance or visit our website.
- The Broward Addiction Recovery Center has limited Admission hours due to COVID 19 and is not allowing walk-ins at this time. Services will be limited from 6AM - 5PM on Sunday, December 25, Monday, December 26, Sunday, January 1 and Monday, January 2. Appointments are required for all services including detoxification. Call 954-357-4851 to schedule an appointment or 954-357-4880 for general information. Residential services will continue with no visitation. Administration and Outpatient offices will be closed.
- The Nancy J. Cotterman Center will operate and accept referrals for the Crisis Unit and the Child Protection Team on a 24-hour emergency basis. Call 954-357-5778 for emergency intakes. For all other non-intake emergencies, call the 24-hour Helpline at 954-761-7273 (954-761-RAPE) or TTY 954-765-4195. The administrative offices will be closed both days.
- In the Broward Municipal Services District there will be no garbage or recycling collections on Christmas Day. Collections will resume on the next regularly scheduled collection day. There will be regular collections on New Year's Day. Residents of all other Broward municipalities should contact their city or hauler directly for scheduling information.
- The Broward County Landfill, located at 7101 S.W. 205 Ave., will be closed Monday, December
26, and Monday, January 2, 2023. Operations
will resume on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 from 8AM to 4PM.
