Free Trees for Eligible Residents at Water Matters Day

- Annual water conservation event to be held March 11 at Tree Tops Park -

BROWARD COUNTY, FL - The 21st Annual Water Matters Day, the County's signature water conservation event takes place Saturday, March 11 from 9AM to 3PM at Tree Tops Park in Davie. This year's theme is Save BLUE. Live GREEN.

Residents will have the opportunity to learn about local and regional water resources and how Broward's water managers are planning to meet the growing population's future needs. Free native trees will be available to eligible residents who visit at least 10 of the event's 40 educational exhibits.

Water Matters Day plans to make water conservation and education fun with activities that include crafts for children, native landscaping and irrigation demonstrations, food trucks, giveaways and raffles. Residents will also learn how they can save money by upgrading to water-saving devices at home. Admission to
the event is free, but visitors will be charged the park's weekend entree fee of $1.50 per person.

The
NatureScape Broward Emerald Awards will also be presented to the creators of model Florida-friendly landscapes designed to preserve our natural resources and provide valuable habitats for native and migratory wildlife.

This year's event will also feature seminars from UF/IFAS Citrus Research and Education Center on disease-tolerant citrus. A limited number of Sugar BelleĀ® mandarin trees will be available to seminar attendees.
