BROWARD COUNTY, FL - The public is invited to embark on a 40-day celebration of "Forty Years of Fabulous Service!" beginning 6:30PM on September 26, to mark 40 years of service to the community by South Regional/Broward College Library, 7300 Pines Boulevard, Pembroke Pines, FL, 33024, 954-201-8825.

Great opening events, themed weeks, dress-up nights, as well as rotating displays of art and memorabilia, all lead up to the library's anniversary on November 4, 2023. Highlights include: 

• Forty Years of Fabulous Service Celebration and Reception, September 26, 6:30-7:30PM
  Meet local photographer Ed Hineline and gain insight into his work while enjoying saxophone music and light refreshments. 
• Your Library, Your Community, September 30, Noon-3PM
  Featuring Friends of the SR/BC Library Big Book Sale, local resources fair, giveaways and fun family activities.
• Forty Years of Fun! Family Night at the Library, October 4, 6-7:30 PM
  Board games, construction toys, family picture craft and take-home crafts for all ages.  
• Secrets of the Library Tour, October 5, 12, 19 and 26, 11- 11:30AM
  Guided library tours by from the SR/BC staff.
• Classic 80s Anime for Teens, October 7, 4PM
  Meet Robo-Tech, one of the first Japanese anime shows ever aired in the U.S.  Watch anime history and enjoy snacks. Ages 12 to 19
• It's 1983 Again: Trivia Fun, October 8, 12:30 - 1:30PM 
• It's 1993 Again: Hip-Hop Dance Lesson, October 14, 2 - 3:30PM
  Learn 90s hip hop dance moves with Ms. Maraj of the Jus Hip Hop Dance School.
• It's 2003 Again, Movie Time: October 28, 3 - 5PM: Travel back to the early 2000s - wear an outfit from 2003. 
• It's 2013 Again, Return of Halloween Carnival
  October 30,  6-7:30PM
  Kids wear costumes and play Halloween-themed carnival games for candy prizes. Ages 3 to 9.
• Rotating Time Capsule Display and Photo-Op Spot: Don your retro attire, preview our time capsule display of the decades and take a commemorative picture. Each week in October highlights a different decade. 
  
• Forty Years of Fabulous, Noon-4PM, November 4
  Face painting, henna art, local speakers, Bingo for Books, Sharing our Stories, local cuisine and a raffle.

Opened in 1983, the South Regional/Broward College Library, located on the South Campus of Broward Community College, became the first joint-use public-college library in Florida, supporting the needs of both the public and the college's students.
