New Art Gallery Launches at FLL

- Geometric artist first on display -

BROWARD COUNTY, FL - Broward County's Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL), in partnership with the Broward Cultural Division, is pleased to announce the launching of its newest exhibition space in Terminal 1 with an exhibit by South Florida artist Jay Bellicchi aka "Remote." Bellicchi is an American artist, designer, and sculptor based in Miami.

His artwork, "This Present Moment," is an immersive exhibition that uses geometry to create special perceptions with lines and color to draw viewers into an experiential art dimension. Bellicchi draws long, thin structure lines throughout the space, encouraging viewers to visually follow them and discover new details in the work, much like following a travel line on a map from one location to another.

"Over the years, my love for both graffiti and graphic design has shaped my unique style, which I've coined 'abstract geometric,'" says Bellicchi. "For my installation at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, I've envisioned a dynamic experience that captures the essence of travel itself. Just as journeys can be a mix of planned routes and spontaneous discoveries, my artwork marries free-flowing abstraction with the order of geometry. This fusion mirrors the excitement of setting out into the unknown."

The post-security exhibit in Terminal 1, Concourse C, will be on display until January 15. Approximately 8,530 passengers travel through this concourse daily. The new gallery is a temporary space dedicated to immersive installation art experiences that are engaging and inviting for airport visitors. The exhibits are designed and installed by South Florida artists and rotate biannually. An Artist Selection Panel chose the artists on the exhibit roster through a competitive process. This public art project is a partnership between FLL and the Cultural Division's Public Art & Design Program.

"We hope that art exhibits like these allow passengers to experience the cultural richness of our community while promoting our local artists by sharing their work with hundreds of thousands of passengers," said Mark Gale, FLL CEO/Director of Aviation.
