Broward County Grants Additional Salary Increase

- Reaches historic collective bargaining agreement -

BROWARD COUNTY, FL - The County Commission has voted for an additional salary increase on top of the already negotiated groundbreaking three-year collective bargaining agreement with the Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 1267. This will result in an additional $1.25 per hour wage increase, which would increase the starting hourly wage for bus operators to $20.73, becoming one of the highest in this category. This pay will be retroactive to employees back to October 1.

ATU Local 1267, representing over 1000 dedicated transit employees, including Bus Operators, Mechanics, Junior Mechanics, Coach Service Attendants, Paint and Body Technicians, Storekeepers and Crew Vehicle Operators, played a crucial role in crafting this agreement. In partnership with ATU, this new collective bargaining agreement positions BCT as an industry leader and will undoubtedly assist in attracting and retaining talented and skilled employees.

This new wage increase not only recognizes the hard work and dedication of our transit employees but also signifies Broward County's commitment to operational efficiencies and improved quality of life for our valued workforce.

Broward County Transit's CEO/General Manager, Coree Cuff Lonergan stated "BCT is proud to continue to support and contribute to the work/life balance of our dedicated employees and the ATU Local 1267 through higher wages and increased benefits, as we together continue our mission to provide safe, reliable, and efficient transit services to our community."
