FLL Showcases Fiber Artist Evelyn Politzer in Terminal 2

- New art exhibit runs until June 2024 -

BROWARD COUNTY, FL -The Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL), in partnership with the Broward Cultural Division, is pleased to announce the latest Terminal 2 Art Gallery exhibition featuring the work of Miami-based fiber artist Evelyn Politzer

The exhibit, Felt Dreamscapes, is a series of works depicting South Florida's landscapes and seascapes in a way that mimics the hazy and swirling visuals one sees before falling asleep, according to Politzer. Through the creation of these captivating, almost dream-like images, the artist strives to convey to viewers the importance of taking better care of the world around us, realizing that these natural environments could disappear if they are not protected.

Politzer communicates her ideas through yarn, thread, and fabric artworks. Her practice has roots in her native Uruguay, a country where sheep outnumber humans. As such, wool and other natural fibers are important tools for the livelihood of many people, especially women.

"The Terminal 2 Art Gallery's rotating exhibitions continue to bring excitement and energy into Concourse D, delighting airport visitors with the high-quality work of South Florida artists," FLL CEO/Director of Aviation Mark Gale said. "This exhibit is a fine example of new artistic perspectives and concepts offered at our airport for all to enjoy."

Politzer received a Master of Fine Arts in Visual Arts and an Ellies Creator Award from Oolite Arts in Miami Beach. She is a founding member of the Fiber Artists Miami Association. Her work has been exhibited widely nationally and internationally and is part of art collections in the U.S., Uruguay, Argentina, Brazil, and Mexico.

The Terminal 2 Art Gallery showcases the work of artists from Broward, Palm Beach, and Miami-Dade counties. The post-security gallery encompasses the north and south passenger hold rooms in Concourse D, which serve seven of the airport's gates. Exhibitions rotate every six months.
