BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. - Broward County Library will host a free literary event as well as a unique photo exhibit and special book display in honor of
Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Pride Month (LGBT Pride Month). LGBT Pride Month is currently celebrated each year in the month of June to honor the 1969 Stonewall riots in Manhattan,  a tipping point for the Gay Liberation Movement in the United States. Its purpose is to recognize the impact that lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals have had on history locally, nationally and internationally.

All events and exhibits are free and open to the public.

  • June 18 - John Siegfried will discuss his book Gray & Gay: A Journey of Self Acceptance,  a brutally honest account of a doctor's long and enduring struggle to accept his homosexuality and his transition from the dissolution of his thirty-five year marriage to his twenty year partnership with another man, 6 to 7:30 p.m., Main Library, 100 S. Andrews Ave., Fort Lauderdale,  FL 33301, 954-357-7444.
  • Exhibit: "We Do, Too!’  Photography exhibit of couples celebrating gay marriage. Sponsored by the LGBT nonprofit Arts United, 6th floor, Main Library, 100 S. Andrews Ave., Fort Lauderdale,  FL 33301, 954-357-7444. Exhibit open during library hours, June 1-30. 
  • Book Display in Honor of LGBT Pride Month: South Regional/BrowardCollege Library,  7300 Pines Blvd., Pembroke Pines, FL 33024, 954-201-8825, during library hours, June 1-30.
