BROWARD COUNTY, FLA.  -  The Young At Art Museum/Broward County Library, located at 751 S.W. 121 Avenue, Davie, FL 33325, was named one of the top 10 buildings in Florida in the First Annual AIA (American Institute of Architects) Florida People’s Choice Competition. The competition received 800,818 votes from 46 states, Canada, Peru, England, France, Germany, Switzerland, India, Dubai and Egypt.

The Young At Art Museum/Broward County Library, which opened in May 2012, is a unique community gathering place and a ground-breaking model that bridges the gap between adult-oriented art museums and those specifically designed to appeal to children. The inclusion of a Broward County Library branch within the Museum provides an additional educational, recreational and cultural component.

The the Young At Art Museum/Broward County Library was designed by architect Margi Glavovic Nothard of Glavovic Studio, Fort Lauderdale, with AECOM, Miami as the architect of record. The project included 11 years of drawing and designing the building and more than 50,000 hours on design documents. The 55,000 square foot building sits on 11.7 acres and was built at a cost of $26 million. The Young At Art Museum/Broward County Library project was managed by Broward County Construction Division and employed engineers Hammond & Associates, civil engineers Craven Thompson Associates, Inc. and Pirtle Construction Company.

The Young At Art Museum/Broward County Library integrates beauty, function and energy efficiency with cantilevered walls, natural woods, maximum use of natural lighting throughout the facility and water-efficient landscaping. The building itself exemplifies Young At Art's mission of providing inspiring, interactive experiences in which art is central to shaping young minds and enriching the community, as well as a commitment to conservation and recycling.
