BROWARD COUNTY, FL - "Unlimited Possibilities @ Your Library" is the theme for National Library Week (April 12-18) and Broward County Library is expanding its service to provide even more possibilities for library customers. Beginning April 1, 2015, Broward County Library Division will offer Hoopla, a new online service that gives Broward County Library customers the ability to enjoy eight free movies, television shows, albums, and/or eAudiobooks online every month. Select from thousands of titles, including top studio releases, bestselling book titles, hit TV shows and today's hottest music. From Hollywood blockbusters to best selling artists and authors - not just the hits, but the niche and hard-to-find as well - customers will soon discover that hoopla provides you the freedom you've been searching for to experience, explore and enjoy what you want, when you want, and where you want.

Using the Hoopla app, customers can download materials to an Android or iOS mobile device or the media can be livestreamed on a computer. There are no late fees, as items are automatically returned at the conclusion of the lending period. Also, since there's no limit to the number of customers who can enjoy an item simultaneously there is never a need to put items on hold.

"Broward County Library constantly strives to innovate and offer our customers the services they want, and we're excited to now provide Hoopla to our community," says Broward County Library Director Skye Patrick. "Hoopla makes borrowing movies, audiobooks, and music albums from our library as convenient as streaming content on the web."

To create a Hoopla account using your library card number, download the app for iOS or Android, log on to the service with your library card number and PIN (the last 4 digits of your phone number), and start watching or listening today. Movies and television check out for 3 days, music albums check out for 7 days, and audiobooks check out for 21 days. Current limits are 8 downloads per month.

Check-out Time Limits:

-Movies/TV shows are available for three days after borrowing

-Music is available for seven days after borrowing

-eAudiobooks are available for 21 days after borrowing

Browser Requirements

Hoopla requires Internet Explorer 10, Chrome, Firefox, or Safari browsers in order to use the service on a computer. Hoopla also requires the installation of a free browser plug-in called "Widevine" in order to view movies on a computer. (Hoopla users will be prompted to install the plug-in if they have not already done so).
