BROWARD COUNTY, FL - Broward County Libraries go international in May and June, with programs and events to celebrate Asian-Pacific Heritage Month, Caribbean Heritage Month, Haitian-American Heritage Month and Cinco de Mayo. Enjoy great films, book discussions, performances and parties. Have fun while learning about people and places from around the globe. All events are open to the public and free unless otherwise noted.


Asian-Pacific Heritage Month Events

Cinco de Mayo

Destination Fridays: Cinco de Mayo

Destination Fridays will head south of the border on May 8 to explore Cinco de Mayo. Experience the sights, sounds and tastes of Mexico with authentic cuisine from Azteca Restaurant, a cooking demo from Le Cordon Bleu chefs, dance lessons and stage show from dynamic dance troupe Ameyal, mariachi madness, fantasy face painting at El Selfie Salon, giveaways and raffle prizes galore!

View Frida Rediscovered - The Lost Images, an exclusive exhibit of little-known photographs and a slide show of newly-discovered fashion images of Mexican art icon Frida Kahlo. Plus art talks from NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale and m+v ART.

Destination Fridays: Cinco de Mayo  will be held from 6 to 9:30 p.m. at the African-American Research Library and Cultural Center, 2650 Sistrunk Blvd., Fort Lauderdale, FL 33311, 954-357-6282 . Order your $10 tickets through Eventbrite or pay in cash or by credit card at the door. This is an after-hours event for ages 21-plus.
