The Library Foundation Offers a New Way to Engage

BROWARD COUNTY, FL -The Library Foundation is excited to announce a new young professional’s group based around Broward County Library, META Broward. The META Broward Kick-Off Event will be Tuesday, January 28 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Funky Buddha Brewery, 1201 NE 38th St., Oakland Park.

This event will officially launch the Foundation’s young professional initiative, META Broward, designed for those ages 25 to 40. The start-up committee, chaired by Patrick Goldstein of SIXT Rent-a-Car, is planning a monthly series of events that will include networking, evenings with authors, community volunteering and exploring new technology-based library resources.

The kick-off event, free to all attendees, will feature Jaquira Díaz, author of Ordinary Girls: A Memoir. A November 2019 Indie Next Pick and a Library Reads October pick, among other accolades, Ordinary Girls is a fierce memoir that provides a “vivid portrait of life lived in (and beyond) the borders of Puerto Rico and its complicated history…” (Díaz). Born in Puerto Rico and raised in Miami, Jaquira now splits her time between Montréal and Miami Beach.

Join the Foundation at Funky Buddha to hear more from Jaquira over light bites and a free drink ticket!

With a nominal membership fee, you can join META Broward and experience benefits that include members-only programming and discounts to exciting events throughout the year. Non-members can attend the public events for a small entry charge.
