Broward County Library to Host Traveling Exhibit on Human Evolution

- Six libraries nationwide selected for exhibit and public program series -

BROWARD COUNTY, FL - The American Library Association (ALA), in collaboration with the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History's (NMNH) Human Origins Program, is pleased to announce Broward County Main Library as one of six public libraries selected to host the traveling exhibition Exploring Human Origins: Promoting a National Conversation on Human Evolution.

Selected through a competitive application process, Broward County Library's participation will engage local audiences in a respectful and welcoming atmosphere to explore how, when and where human qualities emerged. The Exploring Human Origins exhibit consists of panels, interactive kiosks, hands-on displays and videos, and it will be on display at Broward County's Main Library from May 29 through August 1, 2024. Main Library will also present a series of free, related public events by the NMNH Human Origins Program, with the dates to be announced later this year.

Based on the exhibition that opened at the NMNH in 2010 to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the museum, Exploring Human Origins encourages a public conversation that focuses on multiple perspectives on what it means to be human - one that welcomes the experiences of all people and fosters greater appreciation of the complexity of the science of human evolution.

Exploring Human Origins: Promoting a National Conversation on Human Evolution is administered by the ALA Public Programs Office. To stay informed about other ALA traveling exhibitions, grant opportunities, and professional development from the Public Programs Office, sign up for our newsletter.
