BROWARD COUNTY, FLBroward County Library hosts New York Times bestselling author Diana Goetsch for a special book talk on her acclaimed memoir, This Body I Wore, from 6:30 to 7:30PM, followed by a book signing, on September 15 at Main Library, 100 S Andrews Ave., Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301, 954-357-7444. Admission is free but registration is requested.

A renowned poet and essayist, Goetsch will give a reading from This Body I Wore, paired with a Q&A discussion. Her appearance is part of a Red State Library Tour in support of libraries, the right to read and minorities targeted by book bans.

This Body I Wore, hailed as "achingly beautiful" by the New York Times, chronicles the budding trans communities of the late 20th century and sheds light on today's struggle for trans equality.

The author discussion with Goetsch is an opportunity to learn from, and interact with, a notable, contemporary author who is actively demonstrating her stance against censorship and attacks on intellectual freedom.

Goetsch is the author of eight collections of poems, the "Life in Transition" blog at The American Scholar, and the acclaimed memoir This Body I Wore. Her writing has appeared in The New Yorker, Poetry, the Chicago Tribune, the Los Angeles Times, The Washington Post, Best American Poetry and Pushcart Prize.

This Book Sanctuary Program is free and open to the public. Attendees to the book discussion and visitors to Main Library are encouraged to stop by the Book Sanctuary on the third floor, a parallel initiative to keep stories safe from censorship.

This event is free, open to the public but registration is requested. For additional information, contact Sebastian Perez at sbperez@broward.org or 954-357-7443.
