AARLCC Launches Free Black History Classes for Youth

BROWARD COUNTY, FL - Broward County Library offers free Black history classes beginning mid-October 2023, meeting Saturdays at various library locations including Dania Beach Paul DeMaio Branch, North Lauderdale Saraniero Branch, South Regional/Broward College Library, Hollywood Branch, Pompano Beach Library, and the originating branch, African American Research Library and Cultural Center (AARLCC), 2650 Sistrunk Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33311, 954-357-6282.

Middle school students and high school students, grades 8 through 12, and their parents are invited to attend The Black History Project, Inc., in partnership with Broward County Libraries, which has launched the Black History Education Saturday School. Through interactive lesson plans, tours, excursions and enriching activities, the program aims to inform and empower students. 

This program offers a unique and comprehensive curriculum that spans critical periods in Black history ranging from American slavery, the transformative Civil War, strides of the Civil Rights Movement, the revolutionary Black Panther Movement, and the contemporary Black Lives Matter movement.
