311 Call Center Open to Answer Your Hurricane Dorian Relief Questions
  
  

BROWARD COUNTY, FL – Broward County is coordinating multiple efforts to assist those wanting to help people living in the Bahamas after the devastating impact of Hurricane Dorian. To watch today’s news conference go to Broward.org/DorianRelief.

Broward County’s 311 Call Center will be open over the weekend to answer questions about hurricane relief including items needed and donation drop off points. The Call Center will be open until 8PM tonight, and from 8AM to 8PM on Saturday and Sunday.

Monetary contributions are being accepted at the United Way of Broward County. The website is UnitedWayBroward.org.

Port Everglades is waiving tariff charges for ocean shipping lines transporting humanitarian relief supplies to the Bahamas.

Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) has waived landing fees for aircraft involved in humanitarian flights to and from the Bahamas.

Beginning Monday, Broward County employees will be offered the opportunity to make a donation to these efforts through a one-time payroll deduction of either cash or annual leave hours converted to cash.

 

The Office of Medical Examiner & Trauma Services is sending disaster relief supplies.

Broward County Public Schools is ready to help families register their children for school. A welcome center has been established at The Lauderdale Manors Early Learning & Resource Center, 1400 NW14th Court, in Fort Lauderdale. The Florida Department of Health in Broward County will be onsite providing immunizations, WIC eligibility and linkage to other services on Tuesday, 3pm-6pm, Wednesday, 8am to 12pm (Noon) and Friday 10am-1pm.

Broward County has created a website, Broward.org/DorianRelief. The website will include the Bahamian government’s official list of supplies needed and a list of drop off locations.

Many municipalities are engaged in collection of goods and supplies. A list is posted on Broward.org/DorianRelief.

The Long-Term Recovery Coalition, a network of more than 100 local partners, including the local business and faith-based community, has been meeting to discuss how our community can best provide social services for any refugees who come to Broward County and are in need of support.
