BROWARD COUNTY, FL – Your Broward County Library card has gone virtual. Broward County Library’s BCL WoW mobile app is used by thousands of library customers to quickly and easily search for materials, place holds and conveniently locate the closest Broward County Library as well as find free library events and classes. Now, customers can also use the app as a virtual library card – no more lost library cards!

This new feature allows customers to use the app to check out materials using their smart phone or tablet. Simply open the app, click on “My Account” and enter a library card number, last name on the account and PIN (last four digits of the phone number connected to the account). Once credentials have been entered, My Account will show an option called “Library Card: Show card for scanning." Tap the option to reveal the library card bar code for your library card, which will be displayed vertically. The app also provides a checkbox at the bottom of that screen to save this information.

Customers then can simply show the virtual library card to the librarian at the circulation desk to check out items.

“This new feature is another innovative method of providing 21st century service to our valued library customers,” says Broward County Libraries Division Director Skye Patrick. “It is a continuation of our commitment to provide convenient access to a full range of innovative and cost-effective services that satisfy the changing needs of the people of Broward County for information, education and recreation.”
