BROWARD COUNTY, FL - A select group of renowned South Florida artists is set to create ten public artworks as part of Broward 100 - Celebrating the Art of Community's VisualEYES cornerstone.

The selected commissioned artists will create a collection of murals across the County. The artist lineup with their matched locations are:
  • Alex Vahan of Cushy Gigs Creative Corporation, Sunrise
  • Carla Rowe and Addonis Parker, Pompano Beach
  • Ruben Ubiera, Tamarac
  • Elio "Evoca1" Mercado, Oakland Park
  • Luis Valle, Plantation
  • Eduardo Mendieta, Hallandale
  • Andrew Reid, Davie
  • Gary Moore, Miramar
  • Nathan "Nate Dee" Delinois, Unicorporated Broward
  • William Savarese, Port Everglades
What's unique about this project is that it goes beyond beautifying public spaces. The artists will conduct community engagement workshops where they will work closely with residents to understand the social issues and flavor of the surrounding neighborhoods. The artists will integrate this thoughtful feedback into the design process, creating street art that will speak to the community with authenticity while paying tribute to the County's 100th birthday.

Combining public art and community input builds upon the County's Public Art & Design initiatives, but in this case, goes a step further. The thoughts and concerns of the residents will shape the artists' final works in an unprecedented and innovative manner.

Artists and location matches were selected by the Broward Cultural Council through its Art of Community Programming Committee. This Broward 100 project is slated to roll out in early 2015, and will take place throughout the Centennial year.
