Free 14th Annual Children's BookFest Kicks Off Summer at the Library

BROWARD COUNTY, FL Broward County Library’s free 14th Annual Children's BookFest will kick off the Summer at the Library program and celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first man on the moon. The theme this year is “A Universe of Stories...to the Stars & Beyond” and the fun takes place June 1st from 10AM to 3:30PM at the North Regional/Broward College Library, 1100 Coconut Creek Blvd., Coconut Creek, FL 33066, 954-201-2626.

The iconic family festival offers live, top-notch performances, arts and crafts, face painting and a free book for the first 1,000 children.There will be interactive STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) activities, where parents and children work together to encourage enthusiasm for science; a Tiny Tots Zone with early learning activities; Page Turner Adventures; Geddy the Gecko; Photo Op Zone with Star Wars and  Buzz Lightyear characters, demos of Creation Station Merge Cubes and Virtual Reality gear; and prizes and surprises. Children are encouraged to come in costume.  

With an exciting day of free family fun, the 14th Annual Children's BookFest launches the Summer at the Library program, reminding parents of the importance of learning and reading while school is not in session.

“All children deserve to experience both the joy of reading and the skills in life that literacy brings,” says Library Director Kelvin Watson. “The goal of the Children’s BookFest is to entice children and families to come to the library. We bring books and stories to life for young minds at the Children’s BookFest.”
