Free AARLCC-CON: Sci-Fi & Comic Convention on May 11, 2019

BROWARD COUNTY, FLThe African-American Research Library & Cultural Center Sci-Fi & Comic Convention (AARLCC-CON)a free, public sci-fi and comic convention for all ages, is happening from 10AM to 5PM on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at the African-American Research Library and Cultural Center (AARLCC), 2650 Sistrunk Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33311, 954-357-6282.  

AARLCC-CON will feature a fantastic line-up of authors, speakers, illustrators, presenters and artists who will share ideas and present their latest work. Enjoy discussions, autograph signings, workshops, free food, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) demos and more. Come ready for your close-up: Cosplay dress, the practice of dressing up as a character from a movie, book, or video game, especially one from the Japanese genres of manga and anime, is highly encouraged. Press will be in the building for a cosplay contest and plenty of amazing captures.

Among the special guests are Rodney Barnes, writer and producer of American Gods, Boondocks, Everybody Hates Chris, and Marvels Runways; Manuel and Geiszel Godoy, the creators of Black Sands comics; and local favorites such as Jeff Caroll, Keith C Wade, Mervyn McKoy, Nicole Mucher, Creature Entertainment and Ramon Robinson of LSF Comics.

AARLCC-CON provides a platform for African-American writers and illustrators of comic books and sci-fi novels to communicate, present new projects, and develop relationships with fans and industry professionals.

In conjunction with AARLCC-CON, an exhibition of super hero-inspired artwork will be on display in AARLCC's gallery from May 4th through May 31st during library hours.
