BROWARD COUNTY, FL - The Broward Municipal Services District (BMSD) along with partners from Broward Regional Health Planning Council and TOUCH (Transforming Our Community's Health) invite Broward families to attend the Healthy Community Zone 2nd Annual Celebration, October 15th, from 11AM - 2PM at Urban League of Broward County, 560 NW 27th Avenue, in Fort Lauderdale.

BMSD families and friends are invited to celebrate Broward's Healthy Community Zone (HCZ) successes to date. This Your Health and Wellness Matters event educates the community on how to include good health and wellness practices into daily routines. Free food, music, and fun festivities heightens the celebration. All activities are free: games, health screenings, exciting raffle prizes and more. Along with giveaways, attendees receive resource guides on healthy lifestyle programs and many other wellness services offered throughout Broward County. (First attachment-event flyer)

Healthy Community Zone is a collaborative partnership focused on healing communities through better food choices, physical exercise, access to health screenings, and environmental changes that create safe and friendly transit for pedestrians and bicyclists. HCZ focus areas include:

• Tobacco and Drug Free living
• Healthy Eating and Active Living
• Clinical and Community Connections
• Healthy and Safe Built Environments

This celebration recognizes our first year successes including a bicycle fix-it station, outdoor gym/exercise equipment in Delevoe Park, new Parks' programs and Safe Streets projects.

Free transportation will be provided for the event. Attendees will be picked-up and dropped off at the neighborhood community centers and taken to and from the event location from 10:30-2:30PM. (Second attachment-map of community centers)
