Port Everglades Kicks-Off Cruise Restart with Sail-Away Event for Celebrity
  
  

WHAT:  Port Everglades will celebrate the restart of U.S. cruising with a colorful sail-away for Celebrity Cruises’ Celebrity Edge tonight as the ship departs with passengers for the first time in 15 months following the cruise industry’s shutdown during the COVID-19 pandemic.

WHEN: Saturday, June 26 for 5:15-6:30 PM (ship departs at 6 PM)

WHO: Port Everglades Chief Executive and Port Director Jonathan Daniels will be available for interviews.

WHY:  Celebrity Edge, which is homeported at Port Everglades primarily from Terminal 25, was given the green light - and the honor - to be the first ship back in the water, having met all new standards for providing a healthy and safe cruise experience for its guests and crew. Port Everglades suffered a more than a 50 percent loss in revenue in Fiscal Year 2020 primarily from the cruise shutdown, which typically generates nearly $60 million in revenue annually for the port.
