Drainage Work in the City of Tamarac
  
- Work along Rock Island Road begins July 6 -
  

BROWARD COUNTY, FL – Highway and Bridge Maintenance Division will be performing drainage improvements on Rock Island Road south of Bailey Road in the City of Tamarac (see attached map). The project will begin on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 and conclude in September 2021, barring any unforeseen conditions or weather delays.

The purpose of the project is to improve performance of the drainage system by adding new drainage inlets and associated connections to the trunk line. During construction, the southbound outside travel lane will be permanently closed while drainage work is underway. Access to the adjacent Gate Condominium and sidewalks will be maintained. Variable message signs will be posted to warn motorists and pedestrians.

The Highway and Bridge Maintenance Division maintains and improves the County's highway/street system, operates drawbridges, and oversees mosquito control operations. The Division is responsible for cleaning and mowing rights-of-way, street patching and resurfacing, intersection improvements, canal maintenance and construction, guardrail maintenance, bridge maintenance, street cleaning, and stormwater drainage improvements.
