BROWARD COUNTY, FL - Highway and Bridge Maintenance Division (HBMD) will be performing major bridge rehabilitation on the County-owned bridge on NW 27th Avenue over the C-12 Canal (North Folk New River) between NW 6th Street and W Sunrise Boulevard. (See attached map.) The work is scheduled to begin on Friday, February 24 and will conclude Monday, February 27 barring any unforeseen conditions and/or weather delays.
Lane closures will take place during the evening/overnight hours to waterproof and resurface the bridge deck. However, one lane in each direction will be open at all times to minimize traffic impacts. Variable message signs will be posted to advise affected motorists and pedestrians. All lanes will be back open on Sunday, February 26 after 7AM.
The recommended repairs identified by the Florida Department of Transportation will enhance the longevity of the structure by using an innovative deck strengthening design and construction method developed by HBMD. This method, one of the first in Florida, minimizes construction impacts to the public by mainly working on the underside of the bridge. Watch video of the bridge repair method.
