Construction Begins at Intersection of State Road 84 and Federal Highway

BROWARD COUNTY, FL - The County's Highway Construction and Engineering Division began construction at the intersection of State Road 84 and Federal Highway in Fort Lauderdale and Dania Beach. The project is expected to be completed by May of 2024, barring any unforeseen conditions or weather delays. The project is funded by the Transportation Surtax.

The project includes drainage improvements, concrete pavement widening and new ADA-compliant pedestrian ramps and pedestrian signals. New roadway signs and pavement markings will be installed. The pavement will also be resurfaced.

Traffic Control:

  • Intermittent lane closures are expected during non-peak hours
  • Variable message signs will be posted to warn motorists and pedestrians
  • Contractor personnel and inspection staff will work closely with motorists and businesses in the construction area to minimize impacts caused by the project
